El Trafico is back!

HELLO everybody! Welcome to El Trafico TV, my latest platform for covering the LA Galaxy and LAFC of Major League Soccer.

I don’t have a big speech planned or anything? Just a few words.

I love incorporating the music world into my work whenever possible. Like all artists, musicians are shaped by their past influences. The great Tom Petty may have fused rock n roll, new wave and Americana, but his sound was fundamentally rooted in nostalgia.

El Trafico TV is a side project, a vehicle for me cover soccer while embracing my own personal influences. Think Anthony Bourdain, Wayne’s World, MTV when it was still good. Maybe while challenging conventional logic along the way.

Some days I log onto Twitter and the self-loathing of the online soccer fan is too much. Do I really need to know every time Sergiño Dest has a bad game?

It’s part of our DNA, that American exceptionalism. That unquenchable desire to be the best. I get it. But I think many of us are so wrapped up in the future of the sport, we don’t appreciate what we’ve already got. Beautiful stadiums, entertaining football, a burgeoning culture, what more do you want?

You don’t have to be a shill to point out how far this league has grown in three decades. Life moves pretty fast, and if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it as Ferris Bueller used to say.

I’ll have more for later, but for now vamos.
